Building SwordFall's Digital Backbone
Hey folks! Time for a peek into what's happening at the studio.
No SwordFall updates this week - we decided to take a short detour from the code to focus on some important infrastructure planning. Game development isn't always about new features and art assets!
Infrastructure Planning
We've been diving deep into research mode, exploring different hosting options for our future network infrastructure. No fancy meetings - just me, my computer, and way too many browser tabs comparing pricing plans and service features.
The more we look into it, the more we are actually leaning toward setting up in-house hosting for our servers. There's something appealing about having complete control over the infrastructure, even if it means we'll be working yet on another lenghty project. It would be a learning curve for sure, but potentially worth it in the long run.
Website Refresh on the Horizon
The studio website definitely needs some attention if it's going to properly showcase SwordFall. We've started sketching out some ideas for a refresh that would not only highlight our current project but leave room for any future games that might be brewing in the back of our mind.
Building The Invisible Foundation
This is the less glamorous side of indie development that doesn't make it into the highlight reels - the nights spent researching server configurations instead of designing cool game mechanics. But these foundational decisions will ultimately help SwordFall reach its potential.
I'll be back to actual game development soon enough, but sometimes you need to step back and make sure you're building on solid ground.
